"Music will always unite people” is the message from André Rieu in the trailer for his new concert film Magical Maastricht: Together In Music. A greatest hits set from the last 15 years of his open-air summer concerts in his hometown, the film is a celebration of the conductor's musical endeavour, fabulous spectacle and an enormous sense of fun.
The concert series in Maastricht's Vrijthof square has become the highlight of Rieu's annual international tours with his Johan Strauss Orchestra, with this compilation of the joyous occasions being the perfect uplifting tonic for the current times.
A combination of classical and opera, waltzes, hits from the musicals, pop music and everything in between, it's little wonder that Rieu's creation has become one of the most popular spectacles in music. With the violinist a charismatic master of ceremonies, the entertainment often taking place among the crowd as well as onstage, while some of the most beloved and famous pieces of music in history ring out around the square.
And David Hasselhoff turns up in Knight Rider's KITT as well.
