Chaos Walking: first poster for Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley's new movie

Tom Holland is a busy bee, what with Uncharted and Spider-Man 3 on the go. He also has another project in production, although you'd be forgiven for not knowing about it.

We're referring to Chaos Walking, the movie adaptation of Patrick Ness' sci-fi novel The Knife of Never Letting Go. The movie has been mired in numerous production delays and reshoots, but has now revealed its first poster. Holland pairs with Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley on the movie, while The Bourne Identity's Doug Liman is behind the camera.

So, what's with that ominous tagline, 'No-one escapes the noise'? Those familiar with the book will already have an idea. The movie is set on the dystopian planet of New World where Holland's survivalist character Todd is forced to grapple with two things. Firstly, the apparent absence of any surviving women in the wake of a devastating virus, and also the presence of Noise, an all-consuming force whereby living things can hear each other's thoughts.

Todd then discovers Viola, a young woman who may be key to unlocking the secrets of New World. Ness' bestselling young adult novel won several awards and was praised by screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce (Millions), who described the book as one with a killer opening sentence and a thrilling narrative. It's therefore a good thing that Ness has a hand in the screenplay, which has gone through various iterations during the film's troubled development.

The star-power of Holland and Ridley is matched by a supporting cast including Mads Mikkelsen, Cynthia Erivo and David Oyelowo. Lionsgate are distributing the movie, having previously scored a mammoth hit with young adult franchise The Hunger Games.

There's no trailer or release date for Chaos Walking just yet, but stay tuned to the Cineworld blog and Twitter @Cineworld for more details as they arrive.
