Clifford the Big Red Dog: first look at the 2021 family movie

Family movie Clifford the Big Red Dog bounds its way towards us next December, promising a big slobbery kiss of a film that's bound to get a few tails wagging.

It's based on Norman Bridwell's popular children's book series of the same name, centering around an oversized red labrador with a loving personality. In fact, so popular was the endearing Clifford that he became the official mascot of publisher Scholastic.

The movie is set to mix live-action with CGI effects for Clifford, and the cast includes The Christmas Chronicles' Darby Camp, Bad Education's Jack Whitehall and Monty Python's John Cleese. The official synopsis is as follows:

"As Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) struggles to fit in at home and at school, she discovers a small red puppy who is destined to become her best friend. When Clifford becomes a gigantic dog and attracts the attention of a genetics company, Emily and her Uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Along the way, Clifford affects the lives of everyone around him and teaches Emily and her uncle the true meaning of acceptance and unconditional love."

No doubt this first look at Clifford's big screen debut will make you want to give your own loveable mutt a hug.

Clifford the Big Red Dog is scheduled for release (at the time of writing) in December 2021. Are you a fan of the original books? Let us know @Cineworld.
