Starved of new heroes that will inspire the next generation? It has, admittedly, been a long old while since the likes of Harry Potter took audiences by storm.
However, this summer, we get to welcome a plucky young adventurer by the name of Artemis Fowl. Kenneth Branagh adapts the first novel in author Eoin Colfer's hit series, with screen newcomer Ferdia Shaw.
Colfer's fantastical and imaginative premise centres on young Artemis, the descendant of a long line of devious criminals. When his father disappears, Artemis teams up with a fairy, a dwarf and his faithful manservant to bring his beloved parent back.
With a starry cast including Colin Farrell, Josh Gad and Judi Dench, and the presence of Thor filmmaker Branagh at the helm, we can surely expect this to be a whimsical, lighthearted treat. Go behind the scenes of the movie, which premieres on Disney+ on 12th June.
