Amazing April comedies in Cineworld!

Launch into spring with Cineworld's line-up of unmissable comedy releases! Here are the movies you absolutely have to see.

Eddie the Eagle

What's the story? Kingsman's Taron Egerton plays a plucky British ski jumper in this heartfelt underdog story.

The year is 1988. The Winter Olympics is underway in Calgary and competing in the fearsome ski jump is sportsman Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards (Taron Egerton), the first British person ever to do so.

With his glasses and lack of sporting finesse, Eddie is seemingly not cut out for the challenge but nevertheless showcases a determination to succeed. In fact, this irrepressible underdog spirit is set to transform him into the most unlikely of British sports stars.

Based on the true story of the real-life ski jumper Eddie the Eagle, a man whose catalogue of failures turned him into an overnight news sensation, this is an endearing movie about triumphing against impossible odds.

Directed by Dexter Fletcher, responsible for critically acclaimed, homegrown hits Wild Bill and Sunshine on Leith, the film co-stars X-Men megastar Hugh Jackman as Eddie's no-nonsense trainer Bronson Peary.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

What's the story? Tina Fey stars in a hilarious true-life drama about a TV journalist thrown in the deep end as a war reporter.

In 2002, US TV correspondent Kim Barker (Tina Fey) is looking to shake up her staid life a little. So when her network boss asks for volunteers to cover the war in Afghanistan, she quickly volunteers. Trouble is, Kim has little idea what she's getting into.

Completely inexperienced and unable to speak the language, she struggles with local customs and falls foul of the regional US military commander (Billy Bob Thornton). But she also bonds with a straight-talking English reporter (Margot Robbie), who's one of the few other women in the war zone, and falls for a hunky Scottish journalist (Martin Freeman).

Adapted from the real Kim Barker's memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days In Afghanistan and Pakistan, this rib-tickling fish-out-of-water comedy is directed by duo behind hit movies Focus and Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is released on 22nd April.

Demolition

What's the story? Jake Gyllenhaal gives another incredible performance in this quirky drama about a bereaved banker.

After his wife dies in a tragic car accident, Wall Street investment banker Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal) struggles to feel anything. His father-in-law Phil (Chris Cooper) attempts to console him and offer advice on how to rebuild his life. But Davis seems preoccupied with a minor complaint to a vending machine company.

Eventually, his letters to the firm resonate with lonely customer service representative Karen (Naomi Watts). She forms an unlikely friendship with Davis, who learns that to move on he must first demolish his old life.

Offbeat, emotional and occasionally very funny indeed, Oscar-nominated director Jean-Marc Vallee's follow-up to Dallas Buyers Club and Wild benefits from another committed performance by Southpaw and Nightcrawler star Jake Gyllenhaal. He's ably supported by Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper, alongside impressive newcomer Judah Lewis as Karen's tearaway son, Chris.

Demolition is released on 29th April.
